Sometimes I take my hat off to Petra, my mentor.
She could be so calm and patient with us when we mix up those confusing DNA sequences or get fooled by all that complex molecular biology.
She could be so accomodating to suit her work schedule to fit ours so we could have our lab sessions when we could make it.
She could be so selfless by helping us with some of the techniques when we were away for exams or when it was convenient for her.
She could be so tolerant of all the nonsense and nuisances going on around her.
She could be so nice not pulling a black face when we failed to meet expectations or where away and left her to help us during peak periods.
She could be so humorous even though we were slow in our work and seemed utterly clueless at times.
She could be so accomodating to laugh along with us and contribute to our crazy jokes and suans.
She could be so intellectual to make biology sound so idiot-proof and to partake in those sophisticated philosophical discussions.
I wished I could possess those traits of hers and be a lot more tolerant, smiley and accomodating. Perhaps then I would be happier, as well as those around me. And really, I shouldn't get mad at the littlest things or keep trying to find faults. Or I'm just making matters worst. WAKE UP, ALAN!
P.S. And on a side note, I hope you'll wake up too and do your job. Cuz I'm really sick and tired of having to do yours. Sometimes you seem to care, but it's not the care we need. And when we need you most, man, I wished you were there for us. And of course, you'll never understand the pile-ups we are going through, nor the stress and hard-pressed time we're having to deal with. Let alone the emotional and mental bearing on us all. C'mon, can't you see how much we're going through? Can't you see how much we risk losing or have lost just to help you, when you could continue without having to face all that harshness? Isn't it time you helped us or showed some concern? Or maybe do your job better? Step up to it, we know you can. (And stop wasting your time on ridiculous, self-profiting pursuits, please). And yes, you can't just drop a bomb as and when you feel like it. Or evade ever so often. Save the guilty claims if you really care.
Oh and just for the records, do not get mistaken... this is not a post about PW.
