Went to Bryce's to study yst. Haha spent most of the time doing phy which was rather useful cuz otherwise, i would have refused to do phy. Discussed some SCS too, before leaving to go Vivo with zq for this Big Blue exhibition by NGC. Ps to make you wait. The exhibition was okay lah... it wasnt a real baby Blue Whale (like duh) but the model was intricately carved and quite life-like so good job on that. Catching Big Blue on NGC later at 6pm!
Went into Nat Geo store and boy, was the photography exhibition great! I forgot the name of the photographer but it was of a nature theme. Spectacular panoramas and rare sights. Go catch it! And I remember this comment: "You've fashioned seeing into art." I guess that pretty much embodies the ultimate goal of photographers. Well obvly the photos were great cuz it's NatGeo afterall.
Oh and I saw this great book called The Biography of Earth or sth. It's really great. All the geog stuff and awesome photos. It costs $75 so i'll be grateful to whoever's willing to throw money to get tht for me. And yes, there's this $300 geog tb cum atlas. Brilliant. Bt the price's speechless.
Pretty much mugged SCS today and had the usual mental argument over the dominant case. & the carrot cake was delectable. Random.
Gtg for now, all the best for MYEs everyone! I'm sure we all wanna do our best and get that edge over others. So, do visit http://rvstudentcouncil.blogspot.com/ or IVLE for tips on exam preparation. (Sry for the shameless self-promotion, as quoted frm mrbtan, but please do have a look.)

I'm beginning to find creative expressions.
I'm beginning to love precise words.
I'm beginning to analyse essays.
I'm beginning to acknowledge literary devices.
I'm beginning to scrutinise pronunciation.
I'm beginning to be an English freak! :O
Had NRP Launch just now at ADM Auditorium at NTU.
Tht building really is cool i tell you. The architecture was uber modern & simply aesthetically gifted. Go see it if you get the chance. That glass facade, that green roof, that curved roof.
All the RV teams (I think) clinched a Gold award for NRP 2008, congrats~!
Now it's our turn to immerse ourselves in the NRP experience I guess (as the Dean said).
Tmr's ISSF meeting and studying with PA at JE Lib. Long day so I guess I btr go to bed. *Yawns* Nights everyone!

Now, I'm sipping my 2nd cup of coffee as I type this thing for that caffeine dose to keep me awake so I can complete the following:
1. Biology Reproduction (of plants) Assignment. I hate plants. Boring.Wordy.Complex. I never ever do well in plants assignments, do I?
2. Math Rev 2. Not bad lah, havent died so far. Yes, I'm actually doing Math. No choice lah...
3. Physics Assignment 6. Ms Tan wants to collect it tmr and I have no freaking clear idea of how to do DCs. In fact, DCs are so complex that the chinese scholars spent half a year studying it back in China. Simply complex (ignore the oxymoron).
4. HCL xiao ping lun. Sianz.
5. SS Essay Outlines. Not bad lah. Humans mah...
6. Geography Assignment :D :D :D (I shall do this last, as my motivation)
Alright, back to studies now.
Wally's gonna get a new name! Haha now we have another plush toy in class bringing the total number of residents in 4A Home of Plushies to a grand total of.... FOUR! We aim to soar to greater heights in the near future and increase growth by ten-fold by the end of fiscal year 2009. Thank you for your support for the past few weeks.

- Enlightening: LA was really great. Now I know how to write arguments that are more cogent :)
- Woah: Math lesson was drony as we revised Trigo. Haha so you see, I was copying equations frm the whiteboard in my sleepy mode. And then, I jolted! I actually copied "sec x" as "sex". Luckily mr tan didnt see sia. Cuz I was drifting off to la-la land and i was hurriedly copying the equations.
- Adorable: Giraffe and Apple are simply irresistible! Haha no wonder yeesing and tingxiang always battle over the custody of Apple white the guys keep passing Giraffe around. At least now lessons arent tht boring.
- Wasted: Ran around setting up for LT5 which apparently has a spoilt PA System. Brilliant.
- Yummy: Mr Tan treated zq, ash, ms wong (our smp mentor!) and I to Lerk Thai at nus arts! Haha the memories of GC as we passed that LT and that road. And I recognised one of the GC organisers! Spammed mr tan's money with food and coffee from Olio's. Thanks alot, mr tan! :D
- Successful: Our switch board worked! After all that troubleshooting and homework (of which zq did one himself. SORRY!), it was finally done! Now we can move on. A marked progress indeed.

Free-roaming chickens in SG? Only in K. Buangkok.
A rarity in modernised Singapore.
Geo-Trail prep trip to URA Gallery: That's a 3D map of Singapore. It's so detailed, we can all identify our own flats.
Interesting transportation display. Looks like some high-tech toy.
NUSGC Finals: Prepping for Geo-Trail at FASS LT11.
After Geo-Trail: Stop hiding your disappointment for Geo-Ad. Hmm... maybe we did well for Geo-Trail?
Geo-Trail Top 10: Team photo was flashed on the screen amidst elation in our hearts. All that running and shouting was worth it after all!
Outside Geography Department at NUS. With Mr Hor (above) and Ms Or (below). Mr Chan refused to take photos ):
Love: Geography!

How elated I was when I read that SMS from Mdm Ong! It was indeed a wish come true for me. After which came msgs from zq and zl; msgs of elation and anticipation. Perhaps I cant describe how happy I am tht we got in but I'm really grateful for this continuation.
Haha, team, let's go all crazy and daring as we did. More so this time! Let's be super animated, super crazy, super high, super innovative, super entertaining, super knowledgeable! Like you all, I really look forward to this all over again; the scripts, rehearsals, jokes and acts! Ecstasy rush! (nt literally, mind you)
"jiayou jiayou and bring that championship to RV!"
"Lets cont 2 work hard!"
"Lets go get top 3!"
"must rock th stage and get tht trophy!"
Yeah, let's do as we said and relive those crazy moments. :D RV Chem.Comm jiayou! (This goes out to the two Mandarin teams too!)
& I'm looking forward to meetings already!

Sounds good? Well let's just say we didnt hit the standards our seniors set. But nevertheless, great job guys, really.
Honestly, I was apprehensive about getting into the 2nd round cuz well, I skipped so many questions (just in case I lose marks for answering wrongly). But together, we did it. & honestly, under all that pressure + those ultra difficult questions, it really isnt easy. But hey, you pulled thru and did your best. If it were me, I might be stressed out or sth. And so, I dare say, I'm proud of that 4th place you guys won us.
Don't worry too much and dun be disappointed over it yea? We may not have reached the standards our seniors did but that doesnt mean we have failed right? We succeeded in our own right and well, at least now we have valuable experience to share with our juniors so they can win in future!
Actin. Myosin. Striated. Nephron. T-Cells. Ulna. Lumbar. Acetylcholine. Sarcoplasmic recticulum. Equilibria. Kp. Kc. Ka. Kb. Kw. Ksp. Buffer. Ionic Product. pH. pOH. Ethanoic acid. Le Chatelier's. Early morning. Late nights.
Indeed, we have gone through so much so let's celebrate the process and learn from the it.
That aside, Chem.Comm results will be out on Fri. Gahh stressed. Hopefully we get in seh. I miss the crazy and high experience. I wanna have crazy scripts. I wanna have cool powerpoints. I wanna have high rehearsals. I wanna have rocking finals. Grant us a chance, a chance to storm that stage and go high all over again. Dun let this acetylcholine-overload end!

Class photo! Thanks alot Xu Ling!
4A guys! The bathroom was great! Wasted didnt take photos. Air-con spacious environs.
Thanks for the pic, Pearlyn!
Went to Mdm Ong's to prepare for Chem.Comm on Fri. Haha so fun. With all tht accents, pizza and suaning. Lols. Went to Plaza Sing to catch Fast & Furious 4 with yj, bryce, wx, pf, yx, pearlyn & ethel. The show was rather gd. Shopped for Pearlyn's present after that & rushed home for dinner. Sorry everyone :P
Sat was Chem.Comm. Rehearsed in LT1 from 7.30 to 8.45 then went home to get science notes for VJC trg. Watched MTV, blog-hopped and reviewed 2A photos with zq too. & slurped cappuccino. Oh the mmrs!
Chem.Comm presentation at NUS was rather alright but Q&A was full of hesitation (tho we ended up almost right). Hopefully we get in! Gta live up to our snrs' standards! & yes, VJC trg was a series of crash courses on bodily systems, Nuclear Physics and Chemical Equilibria. & thr's more tmr! :O
"Somehow, I hope we'll be a class, nt a collection of cliques. Is tht too much to ask for? I feel so empty each time we go out to the movies. Where's the supposed bond? Maybe cuz it's 4A."

1. Screwed up Math test badly. Too careless. Too lazy.
2. Miss Eu's cheesecake rawks! Thanks alot Ms Eu (:
3. YOG launch was rather successful.
4. Recess was expensive.
5. Math was enlightening (in a rare occurance of events)
6. Lang Arts was "Huh..." *Yawns* (like for the 1st time)
7. I was late for SMP which btw, was awkward.
8. Cappuccino rules!
9. I love teaching Bio ("big fat droplet, small fat droplet" x5)!
10. Tomorrow's class (i hope) dinner :D
Set off from NUS with Fang Qi, Kathy, Steph (Ah Gee. Lol! Her name gt typo) & Ruo Qi. Our stops were: ACM, Tiong Bahru Market, Botanical Gardens, NMS and Bras Basah Complex. The clues were issued after you completed each stn which was a series of questions incl fieldwork (like visiting exhibits and interviews) and application (like how wld you promote this district to be an arts & heritage district) ones. The clues were like alpha-numeric codes, photos, prose etc.
Chiong-ed on board the MRTs and buses. Lol for the first leg, we always managed to catch the transport just on time. But lagged quite a bit aft the market cuz the botanic gardens clue was so difficult to decipher then eneded up missing the bus. Lol, we wanted to skip last stn and go back to NUS cuz scared exceed time limit. Turned out, it was the easiest stn (lucky didnt skip) but we returned 15mins late which means 7.5 marks gone.
Infinite thanks to:
Fang Qi for all tht leadership, "chiong!" " jiayou!" and running arnd memorising loads of info
Kathy for deciphering the street directory and bus guide & interviewing dialect/CL speaking hawkers
Steph for searching for obscure monuments, cheering the team on and helping Ruo Qi run faster
Ruo Qi for hunting down obscure places, deciphering codes (PRO) & putting in her very best to run even though she was breathless
Huimin for filming Geo-Ad with us and morally supporting us throughout (And staying on her toes in case one of us cmi)
& All 4 of you for taking the risk to chiong with me, running around collecting data, getting me food & for tricking me to reach 15mins earlier (tsktsk)
Indeed, GC09 was a great experience (even though I had to listen to 4 of them fan-girl constantly). We really did our best. We may not have gotten Top 10 for Geo-Ad but your efforts rly showed through (you can see our geo-ad on youtube. ACS Barker's & NUS High's were great, though nt v geographical. Yes, watch NUS High's. Hilarious). But then agn, we won Top 10 for Geo-Trail which rly filled me with intense satisfaction. All tht running (& transport fees) was worth it after all!
We did great!
Proud to proclaim: "I Love Geography!"
(& I may just consider Prof Huang's 1st advice)

Monday was 2.4km run. Haha, managed to secure a B. Yeah, may not be very good to some of you. But B's always been my standard anyway. Jiayou to all those who have yet to take or are re-taking! Dun give up and push on. You'll make it.
Had ACJC Geography Quiz yst. Haha, yes, we emerged champs! I guess Mr Chan's less-study-less-stress strategy worked, trauncing muggerish styles. Haha see? Geography is not about memorising.
We (Gu Yue, Hui Shan, Ruo Qi, Evelyn, Xiao Hui, Yi Wei and I) managed to secure a big trophy for the school and 4 medals for us. :D They should have made 8 lah. Tsktsk. Evryone deserves equal credit. Eh no, greatest credit goes to Gu Yue for remembering all the Chinese cities, recent developments and statistics. Pro.
Recee-ed while waiting for the quiz to commence. Eye candy alert! Sometimes. Lol. The 1st round was oh-my-godly tough.
Ms Or said it was A Level Geog. No wonder. Slumping, composite volcanoes, landslides, shallow focus etc. And I forgot how to calculate wetted perimeter. Yes, I must have been the dumbest to get tht simple qn wrong. Hope Ms Tan doesnt see this! :P Or else GG.
Had refreshments after tht (which was one of Mr Chan's purposes of coming cuz even if we dun win, still got free food. LOL). We were uber worried abt the results cuz if we dun do well, we will get kicked out. Huishan and I kinda made a bet that if we didnt get thru, we shall all drown ourselves in the swimming pool. Cuz it wld have been so embarrassing and unbecoming.
"River Valley High!"
Bursts of elation and cheers from us. Mr Chan got GY and I to go for 2nd round, where we were teamed with Chung Cheng High (Main). Got first question wrong and was quite demoralised. Haha but with their great knowledge & GY's, of China and stats, we managed to secure a spot in the finals.
Finals was between ACS (I), CCH (M), NYGHS and RVHS. Hui Shan and Yi Wei joined us on stage for this round. Haha, I lagged in putting up the answer during the first question. It was supposed to be a rapid fire round but in the end, everyone waited for the emcee to say "1,2,3" after 30s then we put up. How childish it must have looked. Hui Shan managed to get the Tokyo Subway question right based on her not-so-clear impression of it when she was in Tokyo. Pro-ness. After 15 questions, we were the only school to have a positive score (+1 or +2 i think). The rest were btw 0 and -2. What you want? Wrong answer, -1. Correct answer, +1. 15 questions.
Were over the moon and excited when we were crowned Champions of ACJC Geography Quiz 2009. Took team photo and left with full satisfaction. Guess we managed to live up to the standards our snrs set for us. Way to go, RV! Hopefully next year's team will help us to defend and maintain that title. Then you will see "River Valley High School" appearing twice on the Champion trophy. Honestly, I never thought we would have gotten it when I first stepped into the LT. It seemed so distant, so out of reach. But we still got it, people. You guys did great!
Saturday was Earth Hour. Shut all the lights at home to vote for Earth. Yes, global warming's a very real issue. Freak weather, rising sea levels, ozone layer depletion. It's all happening. Eventually Singapore will suffer too.
"Save the Earth! Stop global warming"
- adapted from RVHS' NSC Script
That aside, I really found peace and relaxation during Earth Hour. Not only cuz I know I'm making a statement against global warming, but also because it tends to slow my lifestyle down. Like I dun have to worry abt doing hw cuz gt no lights. Somehow forces me to relax. The emotional shift was rly apparent: Like when there was no lights, I was relaxed. When the lights were turned on, the hw mania starts: stress.
-----------------------------------------------
Sun was spent at Taman Jurong doing Door-to-Door visits to interview residents if they needed govt aid in any area (find jobs, financial aid etc), on behalf of the RC/CC/CDC there. Really learnt to appreciate my parents better esp from the case of the depressed mother who has 2 unfilial and lazy daughters (but 1 young and obedient one) and who has to raise them by herself with food from neighbours. Forced to endure the hardship by herself (2 daughters cldnt be bothered), it really dawned upon me how much parents loved their children to go thru anything for them. Perhaps it's time I learnt to treasure my parents and help them whenever I can.
Tht aside, was grouped with yb and 2 other students from nus medicine. One of them was really pro. He examined the hands of a resident with high blood pressure to ascertain his illness, checked thru medical history, recommended medical schemes to residents and even checked the medication. All this when he is just a student. Pei4 fu2 pei4 fu2. But he said medicine was hard to get in. I managed to apply some knowledge from bio there, to understand some diseases the patients suffer from.
"Dun say you can't get in. I thought so, but still, I got in. It's really not impossible."
